Long live the Battery-Queen! – a dichotomous self-crowning ceremony

After years of working and dealing with batteries, painstakingly collected from recycling-centres and supermarkets, Vanessa Gageos crowns herself, in an electrifying live performance ceremony, as Battery-Queen for Life.

The performance plays with the tension arising from the formal, archaic, royal setting and an aggravating, macabre soundscape that slowly unleashes.

Performed at the Museum Tinguely in Basel for MAXIMUM ENERGY - MINIMUM TIME part of BANG BANG translocal hi:stories of performance art in 2022.
