"conditio creatrix" is a deeply personal work showing the artist and the mother.
These two strong realities, which both bear creation at their core, try to coexist and function during different daily actions.
In the same time, the piece is also a statement, a declaration of love for both roles which are defining.
STATEMENT
There is this fear of being left out when becoming a parent.
"condition creatrix" was for me also a way of screaming it out loud to the artworld and showing that somehow both roles are possible and I do not wish to be reduced only to motherhood.
From what I gathered, the discourse of artist-mothers often points out the difficulties that come with becoming a mother and not managing to create anymore, which is one side of the story. It is a totally different story managing those two worlds and trying to navigate both in a harmonic way.
Nevertheless, I do think we should also be talking about the incredible source of inspiration and life-knowledge that motherhood is offering us, artists. This experience is so incredibly strong, and like nothing else lived before. Witnessing this whole process of how this new human being becomes, is such a fundamental life-experience. I see motherhood as an incredible direct, like in the case of conditio creatrix and indirect source of inspiration, as art is, for me, about life.
