the send-receive operations combine in one call the sending of a message to one destination and the receiving of another message, from another process. the two (source and destination) are possibly the same.
a send-receive operation is very useful for executing a horizontal movement operation that in a longer period of time can become vertically static or dynamic. when activated, sends and receives are used for such a process of movement, where one needs to wait in order to observe correctly the sends and receives together with the process and to prevent cyclic dependencies that may lead to deadlock. when a send-receive operation is used, the communication subsystem takes care of these issues.
the machine used for the operation is giving an individual character to the process and depending on the sender it can have different functions. the audio and visual impulses transmitted are being translated by the used channels and slightly modified till the arrival at their destination.
the sender is a person.
the receiver is an idea.
